Playing tourist

Finally we are being tourists for the week. After being in Jaco for a month and a half we decided that we should indulge a little and see what fun activities we could try out. We started the week off with an amazing hour long massage, definitely a good start... I couldn't help thinking during the massage; if I was super rich I wold get one of these every day!

Our friends Hannah and Shaun took us out for a wonderful evening. We drove up a hill through a rainforest to an incredible resort and watched the sun sink down into the ocean, it was absolutely beautiful. After the sunset we ate at a fabulous italian restaurant and sat outside on the edge of the mariner it was so nice to have a change from beans and rice and so enjoyable to wear something a little nicer than shorts and a tank top.

Shaun and Hannah are on the left and we also saw our friend Kevin with his mum

Thankyou Shaun for the great photos

A great place to be in love

Yesterday we went on a canopy tour, zip-lining our way through the treetop canopy, soaking up ocean views and enjoying the mountain top rain forest. It took around two hours to complete the tour, the longest cable was 1.25 miles, the highest cable was at 430 ft, the fastest we went was around 40mph. It was great fun, I even managed to get myself two 'speeding tickets' (dad you would be proud). Rob adopted the stance of a monkey for most of his zip-lining with one arm dangling down. Unfortunately
I did not get to see a real monkey- which I have been on the hunt for since setting foot in Costa Rica. However tomorrow we venture to a national park which I have been assured has plenty of monkeys... we just went to the supermarket and stocked up on bananas just incase they need a little tempting.

You see those industrial gloves in the photo.... those are our brakes! they have thick leather pads on the palm side

If the cable should snap I'm pretty sure that it would be game over

Having a great time

Other than that we are enjoying our last few days in Jaco. On sunday we leave for Nicaragua, we are so excited to backpack around and begin our real traveling adventure. I imagine that we will spend a few weeks in Nicaragua, when we are ready to move on we shall travel back down the peninsula of Costa Rica and then continue down to Panama.
